SpriteGrid: It's Been a While


It’s been over four months since I last touched SpriteGrid — a tool I originally built to make sprite creation simpler, faster, and a little more fun for myself. What started as a personal shortcut has grown into something I’m proud to share with others.

I’ve taken it to dev meetups and playtest nights, and the feedback has always been positive. I still have a little more to do with other projects before I can come full circle with SpriteGrid, but I want everyone to know: this project is always on my radar. I use it myself regularly, and I’m always adding new feature ideas to my notes.

As you can see from the cover image, that’s a different version than what’s currently live on the project page. That one is version 3.4 — an internal build I’ve been working on since v3.3 released four months ago. So far, the next version will include:

⬅️ ➡️ Flip grid image horizontally / vertically

🟩 Show Background toggle — great for saving art with a solid BG, or previewing how it looks on a flat color

🔁 Arrow buttons that “bump” the image 1 pixel in any direction

🧱 Changing the grid dimensions will no longer erase your artwork

🧪 The level editor — finally released publicly! (It’s existed in every 3.x version behind the scenes, but never quite where I wanted it… until now)

This isn’t a full changelog — just the major pieces I’ve locked in so far. More to come.
